As we woke refreshed this morning at the Moab Valley Inn, we were relieved to know that after we visited Canyonlands and Arches National Park we wouldn't be back on the road for another destination. This was the first time in which we have stayed in the same hotel for more than one night and we loved it!!!
We started this morning enjoying the continental breakfast and then heading to Canyonlands National Park. It is one of the least visited national parks in this area (only 400,000 a year) due to the fact that it is so large and is mainly used by hikers, bikers and 4WD vehicles. There are 3 sections to the park and we chose to visit the closest one to Moab, the Island of Paradise. The trip up to the top was about 22 miles and contained a panoramic view of the area. Other than lookouts, there is not much to do in this national park unless you plan on doing strenuous hiking. Needless to say our visit was short and sweet!
After eating lunch in town, we headed to Arches National Park and spent a wonderful afternoon hiking and visiting all of the lookouts along the scenic route. The hikes to the different arches were easy and the sunset was fantastic! Another great national park!
For dinner we went to the Moab Brewery for drinks, a great meal, and to watch Carolina win! Bo was in heaven! Tomorrow we are headed to Salt Lake City and a day without hiking boots!

I am enjoying our trip across the west. I hope you are keeping a list (with pics) of the 5 star hotels that you are using. I try to imagine all the things you describe, but I guess I will have to wait until next year. Obviously you are having a way cool time and I am jealous. Start preparing my schedule and have fun...Love DAD
